The Clipper card continues to grow, with the regional fare media passing another usage landmark earlier this month.
Now available on six different transit agencies, the Clipper card was used for an average of 325,000 daily boardings during the first week of December, a rate that bested the previous daily average by 5,000 passengers, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the regional group managing the card.
With 177,350 daily boardings, Muni passengers accounted for more than half of the Clipper card’s record tally. BART passengers were second with over 92,500 daily boardings, followed by AC Transit riders, which registered 40,600 boardings.
Clipper card usage should expand even more next week, when SamTrans begins the transition into the regional fare.
