An agreement that would keep the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park for another four seasons was approved by the Recreation and Park Commission on Thursday evening.

The agreement first announced in December would amend the lease the team to allow the team to stay through 2015, according to Rec and Park officials. It also provides rent credits on deferred maintenance and safety at the stadium.

The new agreement would keep the team in San Francisco until the end of 2015 unless the 49ers exercise an option to leave a year early. The team also could exercise a series of one-year options after 2015.

The team hopes to start playing at a new home in Santa Clara County by 2015.

The agreement is expected to go before the Board of Supervisors for final approval in the next month.
