Doggy diet: Corrupt Russian officers fed their troops dog food

| May 20, 2011

WHAT: A rare Russian military whistleblower accused Interior Ministry officers of a wide variety of corruption in the Siberian command, including skimming money by feeding the soldiers disguised dog food.

HOW: Ex-Maj. Igor Matveyev said the dog food was put into soldiers’ meals as stew. Labels on the dog food cans were covered up with bogus labels reading "premium quality beef."

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT: Matveyev was discharged from the military after he posted a 10-minute Internet video detailing his charges of rampant corruption throughout the Interior Ministry forces.
