  • Jose Maria Perez admitted to police he'd been molesting a girl over the last 14 months.

A South San Francisco man reportedly admitted to police last week that he has been molesting the 10-year-old sister of a 17-year-old girl with whom he had an illegal sexual relationship.

Jose Maria Perez, 30, told police that he had molested the girl some 50 times during the past 14 months. He was convicted in 2011 for statutory rape involving the 17-year-old. However, Perez said he not only continued the illegal relationship after his release later that year, but also molested the teen’s younger sister, police said.

The sisters reportedly met Perez through a family member. During a recent family vacation, the 10-year-old told a relative about the ongoing sexual abuse. When they returned home Aug. 21, police said, the family reported the molestation to authorities. Police arrested Perez two days later.

Perez, an undocumented immigrant, has been booked into San Mateo County Jail on 50 counts of child molestation and one count of continual sexual abuse on a minor under the age of 10. He also is awaiting an immigration hearing and is being held without bail, police said.
