Film Commission to vote on strategy

Armed with a new executive director, the Film Commission is laying out a road map “to help draw new production to San Francisco and reaffirm The City’s place in filmmaking.”

The Film Commission is expected to vote on the strategy Monday. Short-term goals include simplifying the permitting process, leasing space on Treasure Island, Pier 80 or other city property for film production, examine the possibility of air and hotel discounts for filmmakers, and attend trade shows and events.

The proposed plan also includes improved marketing, such as interviewing producers who can talk about how wonderful it was filming in San Francisco and try to ensure locally elected officials understand the economic impact of a film production, such as jobs and revenue.

The Film Commission meets Monday at 2 p.m. at City Hall in Room 416.
