The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee usually holds hearing on the murder rate and other crime stats.

But this Thursday things will be a little different. The committee is holding a hearing requested by Supervisor Jane Kim on pedestrian safety in the SoMa neighborhood.

The hearing comes as the population in the SoMa has increased pretty significantly and residents increasingly vocal and upset about the lack of progress in The City’s installation of pedestrian improvements to make it safer to walk around.

The committee meets at 10:30 am at City Hall in room 250.  Kim has said one of her top priorities is pedestrian safety.

Representatives from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Planning Department, Department of Public Works, and the Public Health Department will be attending.
