A man’s early morning stroll through Duboce Park on Thursday with his off-leash dog ended in a confrontation with a knife-wielding thug, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 38-year-old victim was walking his dog through the park about 1:30 a.m., Shyy said, when he passed a man standing by a bench. The man confronted the dog walker and said that he and his dog should get out of the park.

The victim, feeling he was going to be attacked, attempted to kick the assailant and was stabbed in the leg, Shyy said. The victim did not realize he had been stabbed until after the attack. He and his dog then drove to a nearby hospital for treatment. The wound was not life threatening.

Police interviewed the victim at the hospital where he gave them a description of the
suspect. He said the attacker was a Hispanic man in his 30s, wearing a red flannel shirt
and baggie blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444.
