- Lynne Spalding, a patient at San Francisco General Hospital, was found dead in an emergency exit stairwell weeks after she went missing from the facility.
“This witness came forward after seeing a flier that was circulated by the University of California police, in cooperation with the SFPD, to raise awareness and encourage anyone with information to come forward,” according to a statement by the hospital. “The witness is a male, UCSF researcher who works on the SFGH campus. We do not know the content of his interview with the police or what information he was able to provide, if any.”
It’s unclear if the body the man came upon and reported Oct. 4 was that of Spalding.
Spalding, 57, was admitted to the hospital Sept. 19. She was suffering from a bladder infection.
On Sept. 21, Spalding disappeared from her hospital bed. A search followed, but her body was not discovered until Oct. 8 when a hospital engineer came upon it while doing a regularly scheduled inspection of an emergency exit stairwell.
