He literally did not take the fall for this robbery.
A suspect who led police on a wild foot chase in the Mission district Monday threatened to jump off a rooftop, but it appears he was bluffing.
About 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a robbery call near 25th and Harrison streets and were flagged down by the victim at Alabama and 25th streets. The man was invited into the squad car to search for the robber. After a short drive on Alabama Street, 32-year-old parolee Cesar Castellanos was identified as the suspect, Officer Gordon Shyy said.
Castellanos reportedly fled when officers tried to detain him. Cops did not catch up to Castellanos until two hours later, when they heard a scream coming from the 1300 block of Florida Street. Castellanos had broken in to a residence in order to hide from police, Shyy said.
Castellanos then led police on one final foot pursuit that ended on the rooftop of a building in the 1300 block of Alabama Street. He threatened to jump off the building and a crisis negotiator was called, Shyy said.
He eventually came off the ledge and was arrested, Shyy said.
