Supervisor Carmen Chu’s 4th Annual Halloween Costume for children in need comes to a close soon, but there is still time to donate “costumes, dress-up clothes, festive accessories, masks and props.”
Items can be dropped off at Chu’s District 4 office at City Hall in Room 260, Taraval Police Station at 2345 Taraval St., Ortega Branch Library at 3223 Ortega St. and Fire Station No. 18 at 1935 32nd Ave.
Last year, the drive provided Halloween costumes for more than 200 children.
Chu’s drive is seemingly inspired by her experience as youth when her costume was a cardboard box she painted herself to take part in a Halloween Parade.
“I painted the box green — it was supposed to be a Martian costume,” Chu said in the announcement of the costume drive. “Thanks to the generous donations of residents of the Sunset and all of San Francisco, there are a lot of kids who will be celebrating the holiday in something much more fun.”
All donations will be handed out on Saturday at McCoppin Square Park at 12:30 p.m.
