Will wedding bells soon be ringing for Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem? The Spanish actors are deflecting talk of marriage, but a new report claims they could be husband and wife before the New Year.
“They will marry very soon, maybe even over the holidays,” a pal tells In Touch magazine. “Penelope’s parents are conservative Catholics and are really pushing for her to get married. Javier would like to take things slowly, but Penelope wants to make her parents happy.”
The “Nine” star has been spotted wearing a blue sapphire sparkler widely speculated to be an engagement ring. And now she’s said to be looking for a wedding dress. “Since she and Javier are from Spain, she’d love to have a Spanish designer create her dream gown,” says the source. Another insider gushes that Penelope is aware the gown “will be the most important dress of her life.” Um, hello, what about the Oscars?
Adam Lambert doesn’t regret his American Music Awards performance in the least — but the envelope-pushing display cost him a spot on “Good Morning America.”
After witnessing the “American Idol” runner-up walk men on leashes, thrust his crotch into one’s face, and kiss a male band member onstage, the suits at ABC “were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”
Adam was unrepentant when asked about the controversy by “Rolling Stone” after the show: “Female performers have been doing this for years — pushing the envelope about sexuality — and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. We’re in 2009 — it’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.”
And apparently he succeeded in promoting himself as well — Adam’s garnered more blogosphere buzz from the racy act than anything else he’s done yet.
Jon: Network Static
On Monday, TLC aired the final episode of “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” leaving off with the couple in the midst of a painful split. But behind the scenes, Jon Gosselin’s split from the network may have been even more bitter. In an audio recording obtained by Radar Online, the reality dad — who halted production on the show via a cease-and-desist order — is purportedly heard fuming about the cable channel.
Apparently believing erroneously that TLC was paid in a side deal for magazine interviews—imaginery money he never saw — the father of eight rails, “I put my kids out there to every pedophile on the planet and they never got paid for it? It’s disgusting.”
Jon claims the network “tried to scare-tactic” him into keeping silent about the supposed deals, but he is now ready to come forward, in hopes of causing the network embarrassment: “If that information became public, can you imagine? Their stock would tank.”
As usual, Jon demonstrates his profound lack of understanding about how public perception works.
