Move over, Katy Perry. Hello, Kady Z.

The up-and-coming 20-something pop singer is on the bill Friday in the "Holy F*lk!" Concert Series, which, like VH1's "Storytellers," features musicians "in the raw" in the sanctuary of 100-year-old St. Luke's Church in The City.

Kady Z grew up in show business, first performing alongside her mother, singer-actress Pia Zadora, when she was 3. Eventually, she found her niche in pop music, working alongside Internet celebrities such as Clara C and Alex G, which helped boost her online presence.

"Growing up and watching my mother perform, she is just so amazing," she says of Zadora, who received a Golden Globe for her work in the film "Butterfly."

"She was a huge influence and made me fall in love with singing. I was lucky enough to experience it at a young age and she's definitely inspired me to really go for it," Kady Z says.

And that she did. Over the past decade, after honing her craft and making connections, record industry and television executives took notice. Her work was recently featured on "Jersey Shore" and she appeared on "RuPaul's Drag Race."

"I love telling a story through the song, reaching out and turning a dark cloud into a sparkly light for five or 10 minutes for somebody," she says of performing. "That's really what music should do."

Kady Z's aspirations are evident on her debut CD, "Ordinary Girl," which was co-written and produced by Grammy Award-winner Tone Def. The pulse-pounding, pop and dance romp offers the spunk of Perry, whimsy of Carly Rae Jepsen and vocal fierceness of Kesha, and singles "Crashing Down" and "Beautiful Disaster" have generated buzz on Top 40 radio and Billboard charts.

"A singer should, hopefully, be able to bring that story to life and light up somebody's night for a while," she says. "That's really what I like to do."
