Tom Hanks scammer jailed

The Southern California insurance broker who scammed America’s sweetheart Tom Hanks has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison, according to The Associated Press.

Jerry Goldman was charged with inflating his clients’ premiums by as much as 600 percent over 10 years and creating bogus invoices to hide his tracks, which amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars of overcharges.

The U.S. Department of Justice nabbed Goldman — who insured the rich and famous for fine art, personal valuables and real estate — on 10 counts of mail fraud. But in the end, he got off easy. He faced as much as 20 years in prison for each count.
